Vessel overview

Maia Fair is a Sunseeker 68 Sport Yacht built by Sunseeker International at their Poole shipyard in Dorset, England. The 68 model is one of the most successful Sunseeker designs of the past two decades, recognised across the industry for its combination of high performance, refined interior space and seakeeping ability. The 72ft hull length and 16ft 8in beam place it firmly in the upper end of the practical luxury day charter class.

Performance and engines

Twin MTU 10V 2000 M93 engines deliver 1270hp each, driving Maia Fair to a top speed of 34 knots and a comfortable cruising speed of 22 to 25 knots. Vector fin stabilisers reduce roll at anchor and underway, significantly improving comfort especially for guests who are not regular sailors. Range at cruising speed is approximately 350 nautical miles, sufficient for extended Costa del Sol and cross border charters to Morocco or the Balearics.

Layout and accommodation

Below deck, three en-suite cabins comfortably accommodate 6 overnight guests. The full beam master cabin sits amidships with king sized bed, large hull windows and dedicated en-suite. Two further double cabins forward have en-suite shower rooms. Above deck, the saloon offers air conditioned indoor seating and dining for 8 to 10. The aft cockpit and flybridge add open deck dining and lounging for the full 12 day guest capacity.

Onboard equipment

The watersports inventory includes one Yamaha jet ski, two Seabob F5-SR underwater scooters, two paddleboards, water skis, a wakeboard and snorkelling equipment for all guests. Entertainment is delivered by Sonos throughout the saloon and below deck cabins, with Fusion sound systems on the flybridge and aft cockpit. The flybridge has a wet bar, ice maker and shaded dining for 12. Air conditioning throughout and 230V power throughout.

Safety and certification

Maia Fair is certified to UK MCA commercial vessel standards, the highest certification level in the European charter market. This includes annual hull and engine inspections, professional crew certification, full passenger insurance, lifejackets in all sizes for all guests, two automatic liferafts, EPIRB beacon, full radio and AIS, and crew trained in advanced first aid and sea survival. The vessel carries the maximum safety equipment loadout for its class.

Crew

Maia Fair's crew includes a fully certified skipper plus crew throughout, all RYA qualified for the watersports equipment. The skipper has extensive experience on the Costa del Sol coastline and the wider western Mediterranean including the Strait of Gibraltar. Crew speak English and Spanish, with additional languages depending on the season.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sunseeker 68 Sport Yacht Charter Specifications, Common Questions

Maia Fair is a motor yacht, not a sailing yacht. Twin MTU diesel engines deliver up to 34 knots top speed, far faster than any sailing yacht of comparable size.

The Sunseeker 68 sits in the middle of the Sunseeker Sport Yacht range, between the smaller 50 and 60 models and the larger 76 and 86. It is the optimal balance of performance, accommodation and operating cost for charter use.

Yacht age and refit details are available on request. Maia Fair receives a full annual refit and is maintained to UK MCA commercial standards which require ongoing certification of all major systems.

Vector fin stabilisers significantly reduce roll both at anchor and underway. Combined with the calm Costa del Sol Mediterranean conditions in standard charter season, seasickness is rare on Maia Fair charters.

34 knots is approximately 63 km/h or 39 mph. At top speed Maia Fair can cover the 30km from Puerto Banus to Estepona in under 25 minutes.

Twin MTU engines mounted on isolation pads, plus modern hull insulation, result in remarkably quiet operation. Conversation at normal volume is comfortable on the flybridge at cruising speed.

Maia Fair is rated for Category B, meaning it is designed for offshore use in winds up to Beaufort 8 and waves up to 4 metres. The captain only operates in conditions well within this rating.

Yes. Onboard 4G Wi-Fi is available throughout the yacht, included in all charters, with sufficient bandwidth for streaming, video calls and social posting.
